Dean and Castiel in Purgatory
717 words, rating PG13In Purgatory they find an empty cabin with a packed-earth floor, a half caved-in roof and a hearth where Dean lights a fire without thinking. Dean has been too tired for too long to think about what he’s doing.
He watches Castiel in the firelight and remembers a time, maybe months ago, maybe a year, when Castiel told him, It’s strange. It’s as if you were a fire, and a spark leaped into me and made a home where it burns, happily, warmly, painfully. Dean didn’t say anything at the time. He still never actually thinks about it, just holds the knowledge that Castiel loves him, tries to avoid deciding between being comforted or being scared by it.
Dean sees Castiel standing in the firelight, knows that the angel loves him, and feels tired. He doesn’t think, just goes to him, puts one hand on the back of his neck and the other on his waist, and yes, the touch is a comfort.
He doesn’t stop to think. He’s not scared of the monsters outside because Castiel put up protections in his blood, and he knows that he’s not scared of Castiel. Dean kisses him in the firelight.
I think I may have just sobbed while reading this. It is beautiful and make me so happy about where their feelings could go. I just want Dean to be happy. /ugly crying

No Purgatory story for Dean
No Destiel
Dean’s not singled out as special he just got caught in a blast meant for Cas
The whole set up for S8 was for Sam to have a human problem to deal with on his own so they had to get rid…
Anyone ntoice in the bottom right corner where it says “The brothers are reunited on screen quickly, but much time will have passed”
So Dean and Cas WILL be in purgatory together for a good long time. (even though it’s off screen)
Gee, I wonder what they’ll do to pass the time…. ;)
Ugh. Well, that’s disappointing. Also, now I’m worried about where/why Cas flew off to again.
So since Jared is billed first that means he gets all the story arcs?
Dean’s story has been overshadowed by Sam at every turn. And now Sam’ finally cured of Lucifer and Dean’s on the sidelines having to “suck it up” when it comes to any problems he has.
I just hate how he had to resort to talking to strangers about his feelings and they tell him to get over it and get back to work. All Dean’s ever done, his whole life, was take care of Sam and all his needs are put on the back burner for it. I don’t understand how the writers think Sam needs to be the one handling the “human problem” of Season 8.
Wasted potential is one thing. Showing the depth of Dean as a character and then telling us Sam’s more important is ridiculous to me.

He was not dead yet, not exactly—
parts of him were dead already, certainly other parts were still only waiting
for something to happen, something grand.

Crowley: *threatening the winchesters. being obnoxious. more threats*
Dean: *poker face*
Crowley: Btw, why aren’t you dead, Cas? Maybe I could help you with it.
Dean: ENOUGH!!!!

as much as i like destiel,
their relationship isn’t healthy.
Of course it’s not healthy. It’s twisted and messed up and probably the most dysfunctional thing to exist between two people. They fight to the point of blood and broken bones, spit venomous words at one another with threats of violence and hell and abandonment. But Dean is all Cas has, the first friend he’s ever really known, someone that made him question EVERYTHING wrong with what going on, someone that made his disobey God himself, kill his brothers for the sake of goodness and righteousness. And Cas for Dean, that’s the ONLY real friend he’s ever had, the best. Not including family because let’s not get into whose ship is better. But think about it, the way Cas looks to Dean for guidance and answers despite the fact that Cas could smite Dean where he stands, and how Dean will and does show concern for someone outside his little broken family. It’s tragic and it’s complicated, but damn if it isn’t beautiful.
No, it’s not healthy.
And that’s why I loooooooooove it.
